Mountains can be formed in many other ways. As a result of the earth’s tectonic plates colliding together many mountains were created.The Earth’s crust is made up by numerous tectonic plates that still move today as a result of geologic activity underneath the surface.

Mountain development refers to the geological methods that underlie the creation of mountains.These processes are associated with large-scale actions of the Earth’s crust (tectonic plates). Mountain formation is connected to plate tectonic,folding, faulting,volcanic activity,igneous intrusions and metamorphism, all parts of the orogenic process of mountain building.

When two plates collide, it forces one of the plates to go up and that creates a mountain.Mountains form over millions of years.Mountains belts streched for hundreds even thousands of kilometers, and their structures pass through deep into the earth.The understanding of specific design features in terms of underlying tectonic processes is called tectonic geologically young or continuing processes is called neotectonics.To understand mountains we must first know more.

In many mountain studies this is done: instead the rock designs inside the mountains are described in analyze with tacit assumption that whatever made the designs also made mountains this assumption  is not warranted. There are three types of mountains, volcanic, fold and block. A more detailed. Organisations useful on a local scale predates plate tectonic and adds to the above categories

Explanation writing

Bees have been around much longer than you have. They are ancient. Bees have existed for millions of years but not just known as honey bees. They are scientifically known as Apis mellifera which means “Honey-carrying bee.” As Well as that it is the only insect that produces food eaten by man. Honey. Do you know how bees make honey or anything about bees? We didn’t until we learnt this.

All of the honey begins in a field, where worker honey bees extract nectar from the flowers.They store the honey in their honey sacs, then they returned to bee headquarters.The other worker bees chew the honey, breaking down the honeys complex sugars. The two sugars are called glucose and fructose. They deposit the nectar into the cells of the wax honey comb they’ve built. They fan it with their wings until most of the watery contents evaporates, in the warm air of the beehive. All that remains is thick and gooey honey.

If bees are taken by a jolt they will sting. The way a beekeeper overcomes this, is by spraying the hive with smoke from piping-hot burning pine needles. It’s a scented warning, to the bees, that foreigners are about to enter their colony. Inside, side by side, there are hanging frames each holding a honey comb. The beekeeper will now trick the colonies defenders, then replaces the hives cover with something that is called the “bee escape” that smells like cherries. But because this insect doesn’t like this smell most of them go to the bottom. It takes another warning spray then the beekeeper can escape with the honeycombs.

All descendants of the prolific grand of the pooba beedom the queen. 200 eggs, per day, will be laid by the queen bee creating the workforce needed to feed and protect the colony.Hundreds and thousands of bee could be in the hive at once.

inside the factory of honey they put the honey comb frames on what's called an uncapping machine like a razor, It slashes wax caps off the honey filled cells of the combs.They scrape off the leftovers manually.Then they set the frames on another machine called the honey extractor it spins the honey combs until all the honey is forced out of the cells.Afterwards they filter the honey to remove any pieces of waxed capping that slip through.Then the honey ready for bottling

Certain beehives contain shorter frames designed to produce honey that isn’t extracted from the honeycomb. Workers have the frames removed with a heated knife and cut the honeycomb into pieces. They seal the wax and eat it wax and all.The lining of the beeswax can be made into other things like lipsticks, furniture, polish and other products.

Here are some questions we asked Di Rensen for some facts and about her experience with Bees.!

What is the most difficult part of being a beekeeper?

The heavy lifting! When the bees have gathered their honey they put it in the Honey Box (known as a super) and it can weigh up to 25kg... It's very hard work taking honey boxes off.

What is your favourite part of your job?

Being outside in the sun and hanging out with my bees.

How many times have you been stung?

Ooh... Lots and lots!! I don't have much of a reaction to stings..unlike my husband who swells up really badly!

How many bees do you see everyday?

Close to a million.  There is roughly 60000 bees in a good hive.

Do you have a favourite fact about bees? If so what is it?

If the Queen dies, the bees can make a new Queen!

Around how much honey do you get a day?

The 'honey flow' is only about 6 weeks long.. But if it's a strong flow and a strong hive the bees can fill a super in a couple of days!

What about how you collect it?

We just take the honey boxes off the hive, make sure no bees are in them and bring them back to base to either go through the messy process of uncapping frames and spinning honey out or sending boxes away for someone else to do.

So as you see bees are incredible creatures. From worker bees that suck the nectar, to the Queen bee who makes the colony. So just remember that the excess honey that isn't scraped off by a machine is scraped off manually and that bees will sting if taken by surprise. Over 150 million years ago, along with the dinosaurs, there lived a species of sea turtles.  They have managed to survive longer than many other animals from the Jurassic period.  However, only 10% of sea turtles live to breeding age.  Now that humans have come along, only 1% of all sea turtles survive to breed the new generation of baby sea turtles.

The mother sea turtle digs a nesting pit high on the beach and the eggs get carefully placed into the pit by the mother. The eggs are leathery and about the size of ping pong balls. The mother lays about 50-200 eggs. 20% will not hatch.The mother sea turtle lays about 1000 eggs a year.Sea turtles lay over 68,040kgs of eggs in the sand.

Once the eggs are laid and have hatched, they are about the size of a hand. They then have to squirm desperately towards the surf but along the way there are many dangers such as crabs, birds, rubbish and holes. By this point 50% have not survived. In the first few days of life, they will swim underneath a patch of floating seaweed.

2 sea turtles survive to breeding age without human interference. It takes 2 decades for them to be able to breed. Through the passage of years they become the size of a dinner table. The width that they are when they are adults, they don’t have to worry about getting eaten so much.

When they are small, their predators will most likely to be fish , dolphins , sharks and seabirds when they come up to breathe. They will also experience challenging weather and rough unfortunate sea currents. When they are adults the predators are bigger, like, sharks as in, great whites and bull sharks. Not likely to happen, but they might get eaten by a killer whale.

The sea turtles have been around since the late jurassic, roughly 150 000 000 million years ago and they have an extremely hard life. A sea turtle breed named the archelon is already extinct 1000 eggs a year, 800 hatch, 400 make it to the water, 200 progress toward adulthood, 20 survive to breeding age without human interference, 2 survive to breeding age with human interference.

Dear Zoo Keeper,

I am here to offer my opinion about the enclosure I’m kept in.

Firstly, I love how I have a humongous tree in my enclosure and how I have plants and bushes. I like how you have put little huts on bamboo sticks for me and I love how you connected the huts just by putting logs on across from one to another.  I don’t know if you intended this but I liked the peacock I saw because it spread out the feathers. The tree is very tall and I can peek out to the whole zoo.

However, there are the cons about my enclosure. I think that I need more space to walk around and frolic in. I don’t think a little bit more bush would hurt, because I like to play around in them and walk around to hide from the visitors for fun.  The tree huts are very nice, but I think that you could add more shade because when it’s raining I get so wet.I don’t have a lot of shade when it’s raining.  The last con I can think of is that I would like company in my habitat because I heard that there was another Red Panda, so maybe it would be more fun if we accompanied each other so we could play.

Cross country memoir

This is my cross country memoir.Please read it and comment if you want me to work on something

I was shaking.Heading towards the start line was nerve breaking.Mr VB reminded us that to just keep trying and don’t give up.The horn went.Everybody sprinted but I just kept a steady pace and I didn’t wanted to get too tired on my first lap.As we ran, the mud squelched into my shoe and the grassed gripped my shoes as I ran.I was so puffed I could hardly breathe! I was on my second round and I was so nervous because we had to go up Mount Everest.I tried not to slip while I was going down the hill because otherwise I would be covered in mud, even though it’s good for you.I came down the hill and as I pasted Hillary block I saw my sister’s class cheering for me and it gave me more strength to run so I ran faster and faster, I tried not to stop,but I had to it was too tiring,it was like I was forced to run a marathon, actually it’s exactly that.I went down the driveway for the first time and we had to go through the driveway twice!I went down the ramp.I went up the bank and said to myself, “I have to do this all over again?!”So I did.once again going up the hill going down it slowly and I almost slipped.Once again going past the Hillary passing my sister’s class and they were cheering even louder this time.So then again it gave me heaps of strength and it gave me so much energy that I didn’t stop running.I went up the bank and I went down the bank and I headed towards the finish line sprinting as fast as I could and while I was going down the finishing shoot I thought “why is it so long?”But eventually I finished.That is the tough story of my cross country nightmare.

swimming writing 5/8/2015

Swimming writing 

Room 2 had our third lesson of swimming and I finally found my yellow swimming togs.We got changed into our togs and hopped into the pool, I was in the third group and there were four groups.We got in the lanes and then we got the kick boards and did some freestyle kicking and backstroke kicking, we did a few laps of swimming with the kick boards.then when the instructor thought we were ready we did it without the board.We did 2 laps of freestyle.Then we did dolphin dive back to the instructor.Then we did backstroke with the arms, we did 1 lap of backstroke.then we could do anything of our choice back to the instructor.Then we hopped out of the pool got changed and went back to school.

Around Pinehill senses writing SD

One frosty winter's morning I was sitting underneath a hoop.When in sight was a playground children happily play on like monkeys.I was strolling around, when I saw a little brown bird hopping around like a rabbit.I once again sit facing the sun and squint, like I'm facing my bedroom light.As I walk around to stretch my arms and legs I see a denuded tree that looked haunted and I also see a pink and white sock that is soaking wet!It's so pretty!

How Would the story be different if it took place in a different time or setting?

I think that the story wouldn't change a lot if it changed time.If they went into the future then I don't think they would have any technology because they live in the country.If it changed setting like the states then I don't think that they would have trees around a lot especially if you lived in the city.So it's a good setting with a good time.

I would probably give my story a 9 out of 10.But I'm not saying it's a bad book.I would give it a 9 because I think that it does have adventure, but too much silliness for me, but if you like silly books then you should really read The Magic Faraway Tree.I would recommend it to people who like to read about funniness and silliness, so if that's you.READ IT!

I think Rick changed a lot!He used to be so silly and now he is more caring,mature and always thinks about others.That happened because he went on a journey, like the land of topsy turvy or like the land of toys!!

The main characters in this story are Joe,Beth,Frannie and Rick but I'm going to describe Rick.
Rick is fun to be around and I figure that he loves adventures because when he heard about The Magic Faraway Tree, he wanted to go right away but it was night and he could hardly sleep.So I think he is adventurous, and so he is my favourite character.

If the movie changed to our time now then I think it wouldn't change it a lot.But I think that it would change wizards and dwarfs to soldiers and other people.If it changed settings for example the city, the movie would change a whole lot.Like they would be searching a city full of people.So the time and setting they chose for this book is a very good choice.

How Bilbo changed throughout the book

At first Bilbo was a normal hobbit.Until he met Gandalf a wizard . Gandlaf persuaded Bilbo to come on an adventure and hobbits never go on adventures they don't like it, but Bilbo is different he wanted to try something new so he went.After he went on his first adventure he became courageous,brave and the most extraordinary person in this book (in my opinion),he was AWESOME!!!

Rock climbing

I struggle to climb up the rocks like a dog trying to catch a cat up a tree, and every where I place my foot rocks fall.My mum calls out for me at the top of the mountain, I look up at her,I lose my balance and fall down but not too far.Unfortunately, I grazed my knee.Anyway, I started to climb again but very slowly like a sloth, and hopefully I don't fall down again.I keep hearing rocks falling behind me and the fierce wind pushing against me.I can also feel all the bumpy rocks while I'm climbing.I was almost at the top and then I could taste all the dust going into my mouth (yuck) and I can see the very top of the mountain.Every one was waiting for me and I could smell the picnic my mum was preparing, and the delicious chicken wings.I rush up the hill like a sprinting cheetah, and I finally get to the top of the mountain, and I was so hungry I could eat a a whole pig.I get to eat at last.YAY!!!.After that I was stuffed.THE END

What if my Birthday was every day?

If it was birthday everyday it would be good if each day was different, but if everyday was the same,then it wouldn't be that fun.If it was different everyday then I would be very happy, but some parts are negative, like , you have no time for yourself, you wouldn't be able to celebrate any of your families birthday because yours is everyday, your parents would be broke and tired and you wouldn't be able to even to eat dinner when your friends are gone because you would have spent all your time on planning all your birthdays. Those are the negative things, but there are some good things,You would see your friends everyday,you would get heaps of presents and you would do something different everyday.

my first day of school we had a math session then we had aerobics, I got to be on stage and do the sound system it was really fun.After that we had morning tea we played line tag, but we had to walk because our friend Jasmine had a sore leg.The bell went and everyone ran to their classes then in our class we worked on fingerprints then we did our drafting.The time flew passed and it was lunchtime.After lunchtime we had a story called trash and I started to draw with my friends Brie and Amber.After that we had squash and the coaches name was Manu.He was really funny.Then it was hometime.

when I came to school, I went to ask Mrs DC something but she wasn't there so we were going back to class.
