I would say the first important events that happened in the story was when he defeated the trolls, because they were the first monsters that Bilbo defeated.The second most important events would be when he met the dragon, because he would know what he was going to try and fight and that it was HUGE!The last one would have to be when Thorin one of the dwarfs die,Because Thorin was one of the most important people in the book and if you haven't already read it then you should.
